President Obama declared June 17-June 23, 2016 as the National Week of Making. This is done to attempt to spark creative confidence in Americans by giving them skills, mentors and resources necessary to find creative ways to solve problems. More than 1,400 schools in all 50 states committed to dedicate space for making, made a campaign for making and agreed to host public showcases of student projects.
