Spotlight on Ohio’s Existing STEM Ecosystems

Much like any Ecosystem operating in nature, the sum of all parts, the interconnectedness of each species working together, makes the system thrive. 

That is what STEM Learning Ecosystems do for STEM education. Ohio has a robust network of Ecosystems uniquely poised to serve community needs. Ecosystems by design are custom experiences working toward a goal to help alleviate barriers to accessing STEM education and to also enhance STEM learning. Each STEM Ecosystem delivers a similar product, to improve STEM education. However, how each Ecosystem does it demonstrates the power of community partners working together.

Looking at our existing Ecosystems, we can see the myriad ways to learn more about how they improve STEM learning.

STEM Works

STEM learning is a featured component of the efforts led by The Works: Ohio Center for History, Art and Technology. This anchoring organization brings together industry and education partners to support STEM learning opportunities throughout the six county region served by the ecosystem. Northeast Ohio STEM Learning Ecosystem

NeoSTEM is dedicated to increasing the visibility and accessibility of STEM professions in northeast Ohio’s underserved students with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM. NeoSTEM launched STEM in My Neighborhood, a community-based program to support existing grassroots educational programming and develop new after-school and weekend education opportunities at the neighborhood level. Greater Cincinnati STEM Collaborative

This three-state collaborative serving 4 counties in Ohio has a solid platform for education resources for students and families. With a focus on workforce development and designing STEM talent pipelines to introduce students to careers, GCSC kindles its start with a demonstration project.
